Cranial osteopathy is a subtle, hands-on treatment that works with the body’s natural rhythms to release tension, restore balance, and support overall wellbeing. Although often associated with babies, it’s just as effective for adults experiencing stress, fatigue, headaches, or unresolved aches that haven’t responded to other treatments. Using gentle techniques, our osteopaths in Faversham and Folkestone will listens to the body’s patterns – helping it unwind and return to a state of ease.

When nothing feels quite right – but no-one can explain why

The Theory
The theories behind how Cranial Osteopathy works are wide-ranging and difficult to research. However Cranial Osteopathy is well known for it’s relaxation properties, and is thought to rebalance the body on a deeper level, releasing subtle tensions and encouraging the body’s own healing mechanisms. Craniosacral therapy originates from Cranial Osteopathy. There is limited evidence for how, exactly Cranial Osteopathy and Craniosacral therapies work, but with little risk of any issues following treatment, many thousands of people benefit from these subtle treatments each year.
Tamsyn was an assistant lecturer in Biodynamic cranial osteopathy at the European School of Osteopathy in 2013-2016, using her experience in cranial osteopathy to pass on these skills to budding professionals.

What exactly is it?

Cranial Osteopathy is a useful alternative for individuals who react too strongly to classic osteopathic treatments, or those who suffer with inflammatory conditions or hypermobility that are often aggravated by movement. It is well known for treating babies, as it is a very gentle, indirect approach that can help to settle.

Cranial Osteopathy for babies and adults - what exactly is it, and what are the benefits?

Cranial Osteopathy is a useful alternative for individuals who react too strongly to classic osteopathic treatments, or those who suffer with inflammatory conditions or hypermobility that are often aggravated by movement. It is well known for treating babies, as it is a very gentle, indirect approach that can help to settle.

Cranial Osteopathy, despite the name, involves contact over various areas in the body – commonly the pelvis, cranium, abdomen, shoulders and legs, and unlike in Osteopathy, you will not be required to disrobe, unless the skin needs to be observed. Tamsyn offers cranial osteopathy appointments to adults, children and babies. Please note, the treatments are frequently extremely relaxing, so factor this in when thinking about the best time or day for your session!

What Is Cranial Osteopathy (& Does It Work?)

It’s gentle, non-invasive, and often used with babies – but cranial osteopathy is powerful for adults too. By working with the nervous system, it helps release deeply held tension and supports the body’s natural rhythm of healing.

Why Osteopathy Isn’t Just for Back Pain

Most people think of osteopathy for lower back pain – and yes, we treat that daily – but it can also support everything from tension headaches and jaw pain to digestive discomfort and postural imbalances. Osteopathy looks at how your whole body works together, not just isolated symptoms.

5 Signs Your Body’s Asking for Help

Aches that come and go. Stiffness first thing in the morning. Headaches after a long day at your desk. These niggles are your body’s way of waving a red flag. Don’t ignore them – early support can make all the difference.
