More Than Pain Relief:
It’s a whole-body approach
Whether it’s a recent injury, ongoing aches, or tension that won’t seem to ease, pain can affect far more than just the part of your body that hurts. It can impact your sleep, mood, and day-to-day life. The first step to feeling better is understanding what’s going on, and just as importantly – what will help.
If you see your symptoms here, you don’t have to live with them. Let’s talk about how osteopathy could help you move more freely, feel more comfortable, and get back to doing what you love.

What Exactly Is Osteopathy?
The aim of the osteopath is to work alongside the patient’s in-built healing mechanisms to ensure good structure of the body, which will enable the systems within to work to their best ability. Osteopaths treat the body as a whole, and will often work away from the site of pain, as well as locally, in order to address likely causes of the problem.
The osteopath will use a range of manual techniques, incorporating stretching and articulation (moving the joint in a specific way) with manipulation (specific stretching of a joint, sometimes resulting in a clicking sound), and more gentle approaches like massage and cranial techniques. Techniques are chosen based on suitability to the individual patient, however if you have any preference to the approach being used, please just let the osteopath know, as there are often many techniques that can be used to achieve the same result.
Being a holistic therapy, osteopaths also consider time outside the treatment room to be of great importance too, integrating exercises and lifestyle advice into the overall management of the problem.
Is Osteopathy Right For Me?
Our Osteopaths successfully help a wide range of adults, children and babies; To demonstrate this:
We treat patients that are 4 weeks old, and also patients in their 90s…You are never too old or too young to try osteopathy!
We support patients regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or religion. Our focus is your health and getting you back to what is important to you.
We help to improve the health and happiness of people with many different jobs and hobbies, including professional musicians, keen sports men and women, dancers, retired individuals, gardeners, lorry drivers and builders! (and many more…!)
We treat patients with co-existing health conditions, so as long as the condition is being managed well by your doctor/consultant and you have been cleared to attend osteopathic treatment, our osteopaths are happy to offer treatment.
Types of Osteopathy
Structural Osteopathy is the type of practice that most people are familiar with, involving several types of technique:
Massage: useful for relaxing tight muscles; can be very gentle, or address deeper muscles depending on what the problem is. Includes myofascial techniques, fascial release, trigger pointing.
Articulation / mobilisation: this is a technique where the osteopath encourages movement within a joint – often the osteopath will ask you to relax fully whilst they move the affected joint to improve the range of movement. Again, the movement varies according to what the problem is. Also includes more functional techniques such as fascial unwinding, balanced ligamentous tension and positional release, strain-counterstrain.
Manipulation: This is a specific stretch of a joint, that can sometimes result in a popping/clicking sound. The sound is normal and nothing to worry about. The osteopath will move you into a certain position and then do a quick movement to complete the technique. This shouldn’t be painful at any point. That being said, some patients do not like to have this done- we understand this and are experienced in alternative approaches that work equally as well.
We will always discuss treatment options with you to understand your preferences before starting any treatment.
Cranial Osteopathy:
Appropriate for babies but also children and adults who find it difficult to relax or other techniques too much. Cranial osteopathy picks up subtle tensions in the body and resolves them with very specific and gentle contacts. Also known as Craniosacral therapy, Balanced membranous tension.

what our patients say…
Very friendly and professional, safe environment and excellent treatment. I have had a wide variety of problems, all of which Tamsyn has helped me deal with and fix.
Ellie
Tamsyn was very welcoming on my first session. She listened to my reasons for visiting an osteopath and was very knowledgeable about different approaches to my treatment. She included me in the treatment decisions and I have been thoroughly happy with the results. She was great at putting me at ease during my sessions and I felt relief from my pains after my first session. Tamsyn is very friendly and professional. I have recommended her to a number of friends and family and I feel lucky to have found a practitioner who is so effective. Couldn't recommend highly enough.
Laura
A lovely, peaceful atmosphere. Tamsyn is very professional and always offers good advice. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and always with a lovely smile.

What Is Cranial Osteopathy (& Does It Work?)
It’s gentle, non-invasive, and often used with babies – but cranial osteopathy is powerful for adults too. By working with the nervous system, it helps release deeply held tension and supports the body’s natural rhythm of healing.
Why Osteopathy Isn’t Just for Back Pain
Most people think of osteopathy for lower back pain – and yes, we treat that daily – but it can also support everything from tension headaches and jaw pain to digestive discomfort and postural imbalances. Osteopathy looks at how your whole body works together, not just isolated symptoms.
5 Signs Your Body’s Asking for Help
Aches that come and go. Stiffness first thing in the morning. Headaches after a long day at your desk. These niggles are your body’s way of waving a red flag. Don’t ignore them – early support can make all the difference.
